Join us for a Mission weekend seminar exploring the rich missionary foundation of Lutheran theology and its practical significance for Christian witness today. Together, we will explore:

  • Was Martin Luther missional? Did Luther’s theology lack a missionary vision, or does his theology naturally lead Christians into witness and service?
  • Ten Key Principles of a Lutheran Theology of Mission — discovering how our Lutheran confession shapes the Church’s missionary identity and calling.
  • What Characterizes a Missional Church? — exploring how a congregation can faithfully proclaim Christ while engaging its community.
  • Equipped Through Baptism — considering how our identity as baptized children of God equips and sends us to share the Gospel in our everyday vocations.
  • Sharing Christ with Our Neighbors — applying Lutheran theology to practical opportunities for Christian witness in our families, workplaces, neighborhoods, and communities.

About the Speaker

Rev. Dr. Abjar Bahkou is a Lutheran pastor, missionary, theologian, author, and theological educator with extensive experience in cross-cultural mission and theological education.

He served for ten years as Senior Lecturer of Arabic Language and Culture at Baylor University and for eight years as Associate Professor of Practical Theology at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. He currently serves as a theological educator with the Luther Academy in Riga and is involved in developing Middle Eastern Lutheran ministry in San Diego CA.

Dr. Bahkou has written several books in English and Arabic on Christian theology, apologetics, and Christian-Muslim engagement, including Shining the Gospel Light on the Qur’an: Understanding and Engaging Muslims (Concordia Publishing House).
